New research by C&I Group and BDO Stoy Hayward points to a strong demand away from hourly billing
New tool kit for fee billing to be created
New research by the C&I Group and BDO Stoy Hayward show that two out of three in-house counsel are willing to pay higher fees for high value work if they were charged less for low value work. As hourly rates continue to increase, in-house counsel are under increasing pressure to cut the costs of legal services.
The research – published today in a report entitled “Stop the Clock?” - shows that while the majority of practising lawyers use the hourly billing system, there is a dissatisfaction with it and a wide growing demand for other options. Of the alternatives commonly available, value based fees prove to give users some of the greatest satisfaction.
