Dear Member

The C&I Group recently launched a new sector directed at those in-house lawyers who work in the Food & Drink sector.

The aim is to provide a forum for discussion of relevant topical issues to the food and drinks sector whilst also providing members with the opportunity to network with their in-house peers within our industry. A couple of successful events have been held in the North and we are now looking to kick start the South region with an event being held on Monday 23 November in London.

This initiative has been set up by Martyn Rodmell (Princes Foods) and Florian Mattinson (Müller Dairy).

The event on 23 November is a presentation by Laura Bellfield of LBRO who will focus on Primary Authority, which as we are sure you will be aware provides the opportunity for business to receive advice and to agree their approach to compliance with a single local authority, and to be able to rely on all local authorities respecting that advice.   Other areas covered will be:

- An introduction to LBRO and their role
- The mechanics of Primary Authority, including proposed enforcement action and inspection plans
- The benefits for business of Primary Authority
- Civil Sanctions under Part 3 of the Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Act 2009
- Q&A session.

This free event will commence at 6.30pm and is being held at the offices of Berwin Leighton Paisner, Adelaide House, London Bridge, EC4R 9HA (click here for directions) and in association with Challenor Legal Search & Selction.    Following the presentation, further drinks and refreshments will be available together with the opportunity to network with other in-house lawyers who work in the Food & Drink sector.

I do hope you can join us at this first event for what should be a very informative presentation.

If you would like to attend, then please send an email to catherine@cigroup.org.uk.  Alternatively, if you would like more information on the Food & Drink sector then please contact us direct (martyn.rodmell@princes.co.uk or florian.mattinson@muller.co.uk)
